  • Your Farmers. Your Nova Scotia
    Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture

Meet your Farmer is an initiative developed by the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture to help connect people to farmers in Nova Scotia. We profile some of Nova Scotia’s farm families, share their favourite homecooked recipes, and update everyone on food and farming events taking place throughout the year.

And, we also share where you can purchase your favourite products from our province’s farmers, supporting both the local economy and efforts to sustain Nova Scotia’s food supply.

Nova Scotia has a long history of farming. Our farmers, and the land they nurture, are the foundation, and the future, of agriculture in Nova Scotia.

We’re here to help you learn more about them, their work, and the broader agriculture industry.

There are many products that have been grown, raised, prepared, or produced right here in Nova Scotia. Grocery stores are a part of many people’s weekly shopping, but may not be the first place you might think to look for local food. Take a moment on your next trip to the grocery store to see what you can find – you just might be surprised. Nova Scotia food can be found fresh, frozen and in the aisles!

Supporting farmers across Nova Scotia makes sense in so many ways. It provides a sense of comfort in knowing where your food comes from and that it is safe to serve to your family, you’re supporting a local business and you’re contributing to the greater effort of maintaining Nova Scotia’s food supply.

As the demand for local food and agriculture continues to increase, Nova Scotia farmers are busy doing their part to make sure that supply continues to remain available. Families across Nova Scotia want to be able to sit down at their tables and feel safe and secure in how their food was made, and delivered. Our province has a number of measures in place to oversee food safety.
