Bramble Hill Farm

Bramble Hill Farm is bringing a fresh, unique twist on a grocery staple – greens! Owner and farmer Cathy Munro is helping her customers eat and live better everyday. She loves to “Pile on your daily dose of green.” Cathy saw consumers being challenged with issues like shelf life, and boredom with simple lettuce choices, so she started a line of greens that are anything but boring!

Getting Started

Bramble Hill Farm is located in Pictou Co. Nova Scotia. The farm is a greenhouse operation focusing on year-round production of microgreens which are packaged and marketed as salad mixes. Cathy and her team deliver products weekly through northern and central Nova Scotia. They  can be found in over 15 retail locations.

Cathy is new to a career in farming. She established the greenhouse operation just 5 years ago. She left a path in fisheries science to pursue her dream of working in agriculture and entrepreneurship. Cathy also has a young family. But, she has learned to balance the needs of a growing family, while starting a business. This is no small feat no matter what the industry, but Cathy found a way to do that while growing Bramble Hill Farm.

Plans for the Future

Bramble Hill Farm has experienced great growth. They have had the assistance of the Small-Scale Accelerator Program, as well as other regional business resources to support them. In 2019, the business was awarded ‘New Business of the Year’ by the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce. Cathy is continuing to grow the business and create partnerships all while focusing on food that is “Fresh. Fun. And full of flavour”.
